Breathe. Connect. Balance.
My name is Lumina and I’m a certified Yoga Instructor based in Bristol, UK. I have been teaching heart-centered Hatha Flow Yoga classes since 2009. My classes are sometimes low and slow, sometimes uplifting and fiery, and always carry an emphasis on cultivating awareness by aligning movement with breath and mind with yogic teachings. I strive to organize sequences that are available to all levels – challenging students to explore, express and experience their own body/mind connection.
I am originally from a small town in Ohio, USA, where I got into meditation in grade school and started practicing yoga when I was 16. I took a year off my university studies to attend my first Yoga Teacher Training at Yandara Yoga Institute in Baja, Mexico. It was during this training in 2009 that I experienced a great shift in my life and developed the skills I would need to share the practice with a heart-centered approach. Since then, I have taught classes in Chile, USA, Mexico and the UK. I started teaching in Bristol in January 2015. The next year, I went to Spain to begin my advanced teacher training with Frog Lotus Yoga International and in 2018 continued advanced training with the Bristol School of Yoga. I have most recently completed Pregnancy Yoga Teacher Training with Uma Dinsmore-Tuli through Yoga Campus in London. I am always humbled by the deep well of wisdom available in the history, theory and practice of yoga. I am so excited to share this extraordinary practice and to help guide students in the process of reconnecting with their breath, their bodies and their true selves.
“Lumina’s heart-centered classes are the perfect blend of workout and meditation. Her masterful cues helped me to find stability and release in each pose. I left feeling focused and relaxed. Lumina’s classes always leave me feeling like I’ve been so well cared for!”–Addy Cary
“As a teacher, I know how hard it is to motivate such a ‘mixed ability’ group but Lumina manages to make each movement accessible to every member of the class. Her supportive yet ambitious approach makes us all progress and enjoy the challenge. I shall continue to attend class and recommend her to friends who are interested in taking up yoga.”–Mark Ward
“I have been attending Lumina’s yoga classes at Redland Green Tennis Club for the past couple of years. She is a consistently excellent teacher, the classes are always interesting and absorbing and -just as importantly – are really enjoyable. They have also done me a lot of good! I recommend her as a very good teacher.”–Sue Gore-Langton
“Lumina has such a wonderfully calm and kind approach. Her voice is beautiful to listen to. She really embraces the holistic yoga philosophy. She knows her students. Her classes can be as challenging as you want them to be. I always leave them feeling peaceful but well exercised. She is wonderful teacher.”–Anna Pirani
